Is 2010 the 'year of the cat' in fashion? Ask 'Vogue's' Grace Coddington
In fashion, 2010 is starting out like the "year of the cat." First, United Bamboo came out with a 2010 calendar featuring felines gussied up in its blousons and skirts. Now Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington makes an appearance on a segment of "The Martha Stewart Show," airing Monday, dedicated to the appeal of the tiny tigers.
Coddington, yin to Anna Wintour's yang in "The September Issue," dropped by a taping on the invitation of Stewart since they're both fans of Dominic Calico Persians.
Domestic wizard Stewart learned about the breed in a Vogue spread featuring model Karen Elson -- she of recent St. John advertising campaign fame -- outfitted as Coddington, posing with the editor's red frizzy mane among these "amazing-looking" cats. "I looked at these pictures for days and I had to find out more about the cats -- not about the fashion -- so I called Grace," said Stewart.
Coddington, who sat in the show audience, elected to not bring her feline inspiration to the show, because: "They're not very sociable. They don't really like other cats," she said. Sounds like very fashion editor-ish, no?
